The Impact of Medical Insurance on Psychiatric Care
I have had an office based private practice for the past thirty years.
I treat adolescents and adults.
Unlike most psychiatrists, I insist on providing both the talking therapy and the prescription of medications.
I do not participate directly with any insurance plans. I ask that patients pay me directly and receive reimbursement from their insurance carrier.
After completion of my residency in psychiatry, I took an additional six years of training at a psychoanalytic institute in Manhattan. My primary interest is in the area of psychotherapy including long term supportive and insight oriented therapy.
In addition to my office practice, I have been in charge of psychiatry at two general hospitals. I have also worked at day hospital and partial hospital programs.
I have been on the faculty of the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey
for over thirty years.
I have been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. This honor is in recognition of contributions in patient care, administration, teaching, mentoring, community service, writing, research and involvement in committee work.
The Consumer Research of America has named me as one of America's Top Psychiatrists.
I have been named as a "Top Doc" by New Jersey Magazine.
