Long Note Farm

Long Note Farm is an apiary centered farm environment. There are upland hayfields and paddocks, extensive tree and hedge rows, and 30 acres of wetlands right next to the Raritan River. We farm the treelines as vertical forage and habitat.

The property has a very long cultivation history but was not farmed in the later half of the 20th century. It is as pristene as a property can be in New Jersey. The soil is sandy loam. The underlying pH is acidic. Surrounded by the Raritan River, two train tracks and 1000 acres of state wildlife management acres, the bees and plants enjoy a Jersey kind of seclusion.

So far, we are propagating over 130 species of native plants for sale and over 30 different species of seeds. There are also a range of well behaved plants that are excellent forage plants for bees. we are particularly interested in autumn, winter, and very early spring blooming woody plants.
